Owen Hartshorn - prizewinning leatherwork

Saturday 5th May - Bushman's Belt
Owen Hartshorn is a talented and skilled leather plaiter. He has won many awards at
different shows for his work in belts, bridles, whips, etc. especially the Royal Easter Show

Owen will show you how to prepare the lace for making a plaited Bushman’s belt and
what techniques are required to achieve this beautiful item. Owen will pass on his
knowledge and skills he has gained over the years which will help in making this belt a lot
easier. Owen will do a one day workshop now where everyone can go at their own pace.
There will be two months to work on your belt,
with a follow-up day in July when Owen will show you how to finish the belt.

Sunday 6th May - leather sewing & crafting skills
Ian Lancaster is a professional saddle maker and has won many awards for his work &
 is a member of the Saddlers’ & Harness Makers' Assoc. of Aust. Inc.

Ian will be showing you the various techniques in sewing, how to finish leather, turn
leather and edge leather. There are many other skills and knowledge that Ian will pass
on to everyone.; this will be an opportunity not to be missed.

The tools required are: Stitching wheel, punches, awl, stitching pony, stitching needles,
edging tool/slicker, black/brown cotton and edge finish.

WORKSHOP FEE: Members: $30 per day;Non-members: $40 per day
